Updates & Events

Hello VGSA Members!

Parents, Coaches, and Players

As all of you are aware, the State order to stay-at-home has been extended through May 31st, with notation by the governor as to a four (4) phased approach to reopening the state with changes coming over the next few weeks. These will likely not be quick but will certainly change the dynamic of how softball will operate within our “new normal”.

With that said, I wanted all of you to know that the VGSA Board is working diligently on getting ready for the season to begin. We are working closely with the Clark County, our umpire association, and our State USA Softball Association to get a smooth transition into our season. Our goal is to minimize the impact of the game and allow the players to enjoy the game of softball.

Below is a description of the actions being taken thus far:

  • A timeline outlining the 4 phases and when we anticipate softball to begin at Salmon Creek Sports Complex

  • Moving league play to begin in July and go through the late summer/early fall

  • Moving tournaments to begin in July and go through the fall

  • Setting protocols to maintain social distancing and minimizing the spread of potential exposure

  • Conducting surveys of coaches/parents to receive insights regarding how to proceed with the organizational efforts to get the season started

We continue to remain optimistic for this season. Presently, we are confident the actions we are taking will enable us to have a 2020 season

The VGSA Board extends our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all your patience and understanding during this difficult time. It is inevitable that the “new Normal” will emerge from this pandemic. The VGSA Board is working to minimize impacts on the game and keep the ability to play the sport safely. This will be a moving target in the next few weeks as we see how this “phased” approach presented by Governor Inslee roles out. As a Board, we will do our best to keep you informed of our process going forward.
